Pregnancy can be a wonderful time for many women but for some it’s filled with worry and fear. Perinatal anxiety is the unhealthy level of distress felt during or soon after pregnancy. A previous anxiety disorder could be stimulated by hormonal changes during pregnancy. Perinatal anxiety symptoms include:

  • panic attacks
  • hyperventilation
  • repeated thoughts or images of frightening things happening to the baby
  • excessive worry
  • restless sleep
